The Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) recently published corporate governance grading report of Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) for FY 2021-22. The report covers 389 CPSEs administered under different ministries/department. Out of these 389, 177 CPSEs are given excellent grade for compliance with corporate governance guidelines, 16 are given very good grade, 10 are given good grade and 2 are given with fair grade. Grading in respect of many CPSEs is not given due to various reasons including approval for closure, disinvestment, merger, under construction and under liquidation etc.
Adherence to Corporate Governance guidelines for CPSEs is vital given involvement of huge of amount of public money in these companies. The DPE has been issuing various corporate governance guidelines for CPSEs to ensure transparent & ethical business practices. CPSEs have been large contributor to exchequer.
