Department of Public Enterprises which is the nodal department under the Ministry of finance for all CPSEs has released the PE Survey for FY 2020-21 which is the 61st publication in this series. This survey is based on Annual Financial Statements and Annual Reports of CPSEs. PE survey is the single largest survey of data on CPSEs and provides a deep insight on performance which is important for appropriate decision-making.
The Public Enterprises Survey traditionally covers, besides certain statutory corporations, those Government companies wherein more than 50% equity is held by the Central Government. The subsidiaries of these companies, if registered in India, where any CPSE has more than 50% equity are also categorised as CPSEs. The Survey does not cover departmentally run public enterprises, banking institutions and insurance companies. It provides essential statistical data for all CPSEs from various perspectives by segregating these enterprises into various sectors such as Agriculture, Mining & Exploration, Manufacturing, Processing & Generation and Services.
As per the survey, Total Paid-up Capital of all CPSEs was Rs 3.21 lakh crore, Total Financial Investments in all CPSEs was Rs 21.67 lakh crore, Capital Employed by all CPSEs was Rs 32.47 lakh crore, Total Gross Revenue from the operations of operating CPSEs during FY 2020-21 was Rs 24.26 lakh crore and Net Profit of profit-making CPSEs stood at Rs 1.89 lakh crore in FY 2020-21.
