Tata group has finalized the appointment of Shri N Chandrasekaran, the chairman of Tata Sons, as Chairman of Air India after resign of Turkish expat Ilker Ayci following controversy over his closeness with Turkish President who occasionally takes stand against India at International platforms. The appointment was cleared at a recently held board meeting of Air India. N Chnadrasekaran had been reappointed as chairman of Tata Sons on February 2022 for a second term of five years. Following this, Tata Sons had approached the Ministry of Corporate Affairs seeking approval for N Chandrasekaran to chair the boards at a few more group firms. This was because the chairman had already touched the prescribed limit at the Tata Group.
