Alka Mittal becomes first woman to head ONGC as CMD
In a historic move which could be a catalytic event for enhancing board diversity in Indian Corporate sector and to set precedence for other large companies for promoting women in leadership roles, ONGC, a Maharatna Company, has given additional charge of Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) position to its Director of Human Resources, Ms. Alka Mittal. She is the first women to take CMD position of ONGC.
These developments took place as ONGC has not appointed a full time CMD since the retirement of Shashi Shanker in March last year.
