Ministry of Corporate Affairs has amended the (Appointment and Qualifications of Directors) Rules allowing officers in the pay scale of Director or equivalent or above in any Ministry, Department of Central or State Government and having requisite work experience to seek exemption from the online self-assessment test. Earlier this exemption was available to the officers of the same grade of only four ministries of the central government.

Further, as per the Notification an advocate, Chartered Accountant, Company Secretary, Cost Accountant in practice having practice work experience of at least ten years, would also be exempted from the online self-assessment test.
