The Competition Commission of India (CCI) to promote and sustain competition in markets, to protect the interests of consumers and also to ensure freedom of trade carried on by other participants in markets has issued the Competition Commission of India (Meeting for Transaction of Business) Amendment Regulations, 2021 to further amend the Competition Commission of India (Meeting for the transaction of business) Regulations, 2009 and it will come into force with effect from March 05, 2021.
A new Regulation has been inserted, "Coram for meetings of the Court," which specifies that the Commission would establish cases for final hearing after the pleadings have been completed and that, at such hearings, the coram of the Commission must stay unchanged and that coram alone would continue to hear and engage in all future proceedings at all hearing dates and would write the final orders. If for any other reason, it becomes difficult to resume proceedings with the same coram, the case will be heard again with a new coram.
